Employment agreement for new police chief on agenda

Current Auburn Police Lieutenant Bryan Morrison should have a new title as the department's new chief on Monday. On the Auburn City Council agenda sent to the Auburn Journal on Thursday afternoon, an employment agreement for Morrison to become chief of police position is on the agenda. In a statement sent to the Journal in January, Auburn City Manager Sean Rabé announced that current Lt. Morrison was selected as the new chief of police, pending successful employment agreement negotiations and approval of an employment agreement by the Auburn City Council. "I'm so pleased to have such a well-respected person take over the reins of the Auburn Police Department," Rabé said in a news release. "Bryan has the temperament, professional skills and vision to lead this department. He has my full trust and confidence, and I am excited to see the future of the department under his leadership." Lt. Morrison has more than 26 years of police experience in the position, more than four of those as a lieutenant with the Auburn Police Department. He has worked for the department for about 8 1/2 years, beginning as a police officer. Morrison has a bachelor's degree in criminal justice and is currently on the wait list for the FBI Academy. "The fact that Bryan is already working in the department is an added bonus," Rabé said in January. "He's prepared to lead the department from day one." Ted Stec had been serving as the interim police chief since September, when Ryan Kinnan left to become police chief in Woodland. The city council meeting is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at city hall.
