Eagles' Menezes is league MVP; eight teammates also all-league selections

Vista del Lago junior Ethan Menezes headlined the Capital Athletic League football team, as he earned the league's Most Valuable Player award. The 6-0, 185-pound running back led the league carries (221), yards (1,712), and rushing touchdowns (16). He also led the league in scoring with 102 points, 16 rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown. His production was the force behind a Vista team that has scored 456 points in 11 games, an average of 41 per game, also the highest-scoring team in the league. Vista placed second in the Capital Athletic League, losing only one game to league champion Capital Christian. Menezes is one of nine Vista players to make the all-Capital Athletic League team. Two of those nine are offensive tackles Nathan Erlich (6-1, 215) and Nathan Guess (5-11, 190), who opened many holes for Menezes to run through. The only other Vista player to make it for his play on offense was Zach Corbitt, who also made the all-league team as a safety. Joining Corbitt as all-league defenders include lineman Noah Case, linebackers Jaxson Hansen and Brycen Santero, cornerback Erik Johnson and nickelback Ryan Tung.
