Three suspects arrested for fatal shooting in Roseville

Three suspects were arrested in the Sept. 18 shooting that left one man dead at the Home 2 Suites by Hilton Hotel in Roseville. Michale L. Fotofili, 37, of Sacramento; Angelica Garcia, 35, of Citrus Heights; and Anders Fulilangi Johansson, 28, of Utah, were arrested in connection with the shooting along with several other charges, according to Roseville Police Department public information officer Rob Baquera. According to Baquera's report, Fotofili and his wife, Garcia, had rented a room on Sept. 17 and several unknown men were seen entering and leaving the room throughout the course of the day. Fotofili was seen at 7 a.m. Sept. 18 walking out a side exit of the hotel and returning with Johansson and the two men entering the room. Twenty minutes later, the victim entered the room with Fotfili, Garcia and Johansson still inside, who were planning on robbing the victim, according to Baquera. Fotofili and Garcia leave the room at 7:30 a.m. Sept. 18, according to Baquera, and gunshots are heard a few minutes later from the room and the hallway. Johansson was caught on surveillance video exiting the hotel with a gun in his hand, according to Baquera and leaving the parking lot in a black Chevrolet Yukon. Roseville Police Officers were dispatched at 7:45 a.m. Sept. 18 and arrived on scene around 8 a.m. to find hotel guests performing CPR on the victim, according to Baquera. Several law enforcement agencies, including the Reno Police Department, worked to track down Fotofili, Garcia and Johansson. "Roseville Police Department investigators, Crime Suppression Unit detectives, Crime Scene investigators, Crime analysts, Placer County District Attorney's Office investigators, Patrol Officers went to work putting the pieces together," Baquera said. "Multiple witnesses were interviewed and video surveillance was reviewed." At 7:45 p.m. Sept. 18, the Roseville Crime Suppression Unit and the San Mateo County Gang Task Force located Fotofili and Garcia in a hotel in South San Francisco, according to Baquera. With the aid of the California Department of Corrections Fugitive Apprehension Team, the Crime Suppression Unit took the pair into custody without incident Friday and they were booked into the South Placer County Jail on several charges, including robbery and conspiracy, according to Baquera. "Fotofili was currently awaiting trial for a pimping and pandering case, he was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon and he was on probation out of Sacramento for felon in possession of a firearm," Baquera said. "Garcia was on probation out of Placer County for drug-related charges and she had two outstanding warrants out of Placer County for drug possession." Roseville Police Department detectives tracked Johansson to a Sacramento home Sept. 18 and called for support from the Sacramento Police Department when they found Johannson's truck. The Sacramento Police Department sent out officers while Roseville Police detectives attempted to confront Johannson, who got away before additional officers were able to arrive on scene, according to Baquera. "Information was learned during the investigation that Johansson may be driving to Reno, Nevada," Baquera said. "All law enforcement agencies in that area were alerted and began actively looking for the suspect." At 4 p.m. Sept. 19, officers with the Reno Police Department located Johansson's truck in which they attempted to pull the vehicle over but Johansson led officers on a brief chase before he was arrested, according to Baquera. Officers found a handgun in the vehicle that is said to be the same handgun that was used in the shooting, according to Baquera. Johansson was in custody Monday at the Washoe County Jail in Nevada with multiple charges, including murder.
