Rocklin family escapes duplex fire, needs to relocate

Rocklin Firefighters responded to a duplex structure fire in the South Whitney area Friday morning and were able to keep the fire from spreading to any adjacent structures. The duplex's occupants, a mother, her four children and a dog, safely made it outside and now need to find another place to live. They lost all their belongings in the fire. According to Rocklin Firefighters, the duplex occupants didn't know there was a fire and a witness rushed in to get them out before first responders arrived Friday morning. The fire consumed both units in the duplex where it started, according to the Rocklin Fire Department. The damage was extensive and based on fire staff's experience, the building might be a total loss. The cause of the fire is undetermined, as of press time. A gofundme account was set up by the mother, Melina Mendoza, who wrote, "myself and my kids were victims of a horrendous house fire.
