Overdrawn: Attempted ATM robbery nets stolen truck in El Dorado Hills

An unknown suspect attempted to make a different type of withdrawal from a drive-through ATM in El Dorado Hills last Friday that was unsuccessful but left a large amount of damage behind. On Friday (May 13), a 9-1-1 caller reported they had witnessed an entire standalone ATM kiosk being ripped from its foundation by a chain attached to a pickup truck at a Chase Bank located in El Dorado Hills Town Center. The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office (EDSO) reportedly received the call at 4:47 a.m. Friday. Upon arrival, the suspect vehicle had fled the scene, leaving the kiosk and various parts strewn across the drive-up entryway. "The witness provided a suspect vehicle description as the vehicle left the area," read the statement from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office as it asked for any information on social media. "EDSO patrol arrived on scene at 4:48 a.m. and could not locate the suspect vehicle in the immediate area. The ATM was left behind in the parking lot."' No money was reportedly taken from the damaged ATM. The vehicle used in the botched theft was found shortly after the incident, dumped on nearby Valley View Parkway. Officials confirmed that the pickup involved was stolen. As of press time, investigators had no suspects known or in custody. The investigation is ongoing.
