Food drive continues through Aug. 31

In the last two years, Placer County and the surrounding counties of Nevada and El Dorado have seen upwards of a 45 to 50-percent increase in food insecurity for individuals and families. This staggering number has led the Placer County Association of REALTORS® (PCAR) to again partner with local agencies to serve those in need through a summer food drive, running from June through Aug. 31. "Our association is dedicated to improving the lives and community for those we serve and the issue of hunger is immensely important to PCAR," said Placer County Association of REALTORS® President Bill Evans. "We are committed to helping the great efforts of the Auburn Interfaith Food Closet, The Salt Mine and the Salvation Army as they address the needs of those who are food insecure in our region." With donations historically down during summer, local food pantries are more in need than ever. "As a mother and grandmother, I can not imagine the stress and anguish parents must experience when they are unsure of where or when the next meal will come for their children," said Cheryl Keller, Placer County Association of REALTORS® Foundation president. "These efforts will help to serve those most in need throughout our community." Benefitting The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet, The Salt Mine in the Lincoln area and the local Salvation Army branch, the following items are greatly needed: ● Cereal ● Raman ● Rice ● Spaghetti ● Macaroni and cheese ● Peanut butter ● Canned goods ● Corn ● Green beans ● Fruit ● Soup ● Tuna ● Pasta sauce ● Snacks for youth ● Anything that is individually wrapped or canned and does not need refrigeration ■ Chips ■ Crackers ■ Cookies ■ Juice boxes ● Personal care products ● Laundry soap ● Dish Soap ● Shampoo ● Conditioner. Placer County Association of REALTORS® encourages residents to donate to this food drive. Donations can be delivered to the bins in the Placer County Association of REALTORS® lobby at 270 Technology Way, Suite 100, Rocklin.
