Loomis' Smithville & Co. is Placer Business of Month

Smithville & Co. cafe in downtown Loomis was honored by 5th District State Assemblyman Joe Patterson as Placer Business of The Month. Recently celebrating a year in operation, Smithville & Co. has attracted much attention and business at the "Four Corners" of Taylor and Horseshoe Bar roads. The cafe was featured on Good Day Sacramento 31 and CBS13 News last spring. A key part of a remarkable, ongoing renaissance downtown, Smithville & Co. is unique in that it was converted from a former auto shop at the old Loomis corner. The old smog shop bay doors were converted to roll-up glass, for example. Open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and closed Sunday, Smithville offers "healthy bites, healthy shakes" and specialty coffees. Beer and wine are also served, with live music on the weekends. "This is a pretty hot spot out here in Loomis," correspondent Jordan Segundo said on the Good Day Sacramento broadcast. "Each month, I choose a local business from each county I represent (Placer and El Dorado) to recognize," said Patterson, former Rocklin City Councilperson. "It was my honor to recognize Smithville & Co. for the month of August. Smithville, along with other local small businesses, have helped transform an ordinary corner in Loomis to an extraordinary place to gather and hang out." "Smithville has quickly become a destination for downtown Loomis at our Four Corners. It's a great environment for so many occasions," said Loomis Basin Chamber of Commerce Director K.D. Molnar. "I've had business meetings over coffee, lunches with mom friends, and stopped in for an evening drink on the weekend when there is live music." "Their unique menu of healthy bites and specialty coffee with live music makes it a go-to destination each weekend," said Patterson, who presented the award early this month to Smithville owner Jessica Winkelhausen Smith. "I'm already making plans to visit more often with my family and friends." "They have added so much life and vibrancy to downtown Loomis in the year they have been open! I'm also personally excited to see them expanding into their banquet space next door soon," Molnar added.
