Art League of Lincoln hosts 3rd annual Youth Art Exhibit, classes

The Art League of Lincoln is proud to feature the third annual Lincoln Youth Art Exhibit, which is on display through Feb. 23. The exhibit features work from most Lincoln schools, including grades kindergarten through high school. There will be a special family reception on Jan. 25 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Gallery. Cookies and apple cider will be served; it will be an excellent opportunity for families to enjoy the exhibition. In addition a second Thursday reception will be held Feb. 13 from 5-7 p.m., inclusive of wine and live music. Participating schools include 1st Street Elementary, Carlin Coppin Elementary, Creekside Oaks Elementary, Scott Leaman Elementary, Sheridan Elementary, Twelve Bridges Middle School, Lincoln High School, Phoenix High School and Twelve Bridges High School. In addition to the work from the schools, artwork from independent students is also displayed. Schools who wish to be included in future exhibits should email the Art League at artleaguelincoln@gmail.com. There is no fee to participate and students may also sell their work. One young artist sold three pieces in last year's exhibit, and proudly announced to all who were listening, "I'm going to be a professional artist!" Let's support the next generation of artists! The Art League of Lincoln offers youth art classes at the gallery and on-site school-based instruction. Some of the work displayed in this year's exhibit is from students in the Art League classes. In addition, art from Phoenix High School is displayed, which was created in on-site classes provided by the Art League. Youth art classes held at the gallery currently include a teen class held Tuesdays from 5-7 p.m. and a "Tween" class (ages 9-11) will also be held on Monday afternoons beginning in February. A Kids Art Camp is held during school closures such as spring, summer and winter break.
