Silver Spruce Park plans approved by Roseville

The Roseville City Council on Feb. 19 approved plans for the Silver Spruce Park project in the Sierra Vista neighborhood. Silver Spruce Park, or "KT-52," is a 7.5-acre school/park site located at Sierra Village Drive and Silver Spruce Drive within the Sierra Vista Specific Plan area of Roseville. The park will feature a multi-use grass area to accommodate a youth cricket or soccer field, a shaded play area, covered picnic area, restroom, off-street parking to connect to a future elementary school, a walking path, landscaping and irrigation. Bid alternates include a possible full court for basketball, swings, a nature play area, additional turf, metal shade structure in lieu of a fabric shade structure and a sidewalk along the street edge. Timing for construction of the adjacent elementary school is yet to be determined by the Center Joint Unified School District, according to the report. The master plan for this park was approved by the Roseville City Council last summer. Bids are scheduled to be opened in March. Staff plans to return to the City Council in April or May to award a bid. Funding for this project was approved the last two fiscal years through the Neighborhood Park - Sierra Vista Fund, staff said. Maintenance will be funded through the Sierra Vista Community Facilities District No. 2, and there will be no General Fund fiscal impacts.
