Bulldogs' season ends with loss at Mitty

Folsom High's volleyball team saw its record-setting season come to an end on Saturday in the second-round of the Northern California open division playoffs. The Bulldogs, the fourth seed, traveled to top-seeded Mitty and Mitty did what they do to most opponents from Northern California, win in three sets, 25-18, 25-20, 25-13. The runner-up in last year's state championship will now host Rocklin on Tuesday. The Bulldogs played well despite missing two players and had their chances. "I thought we held our own against an extremely tough opponent," Folsom coach Devin Elmore said. "We just weren't able to finish at the end of those sets. It was tough without a few of our key players, but I was proud to see Deborah Makama, Precious Omini and Azzy Basquez step up and play really well. We had our chances." The Bulldogs finished their season with a record of 34-10; including winning their first section championship and earning their first playoff win in the open division. Among the team's accomplishments: most wins (34), first league championship, first section title, ranked nationally for the first time (47th), ranked in the top-20 in California for the first time (17th), and first time reaching the open division in the Nor-Cal playoffs. Khloe Wong, a four-year starter at libero, finished her career with nearly 2,000 digs and she was also a part of more wins (120) than in Folsom's previous 13 seasons combined (110).
