Rocklin grad Miller will play volleyball for Armstrong Atlantic

After two strong seasons at American River College, 2003 Rocklin High graduate Adriana Miller has accepted a volleyball scholarship to Armstrong Atlantic University in Savannah, Ga."I'm nervous about moving over there but it's exciting and I'll have stories to talk about when I'm older," said Miller, who will head east on July 24 and has already met most of her new teammates. "I'm really excited about playing at a higher level."Miller, whose sister Annelise has followed in Adriana's footsteps at Rocklin, starring in basketball and volleyball as a junior this season, fell in love with the Armstrong Atlantic campus on a visit earlier this year. "The campus is so nice, lots of new buildings and the student-to-teacher ratio is small. And the beach is just 20 minutes away," said Miller, who will major in nursing. "As for the team, the coach is really looking forward to this season, he thinks we can do well."The Division II school has waived Miller's out-of-state tuition cost and the scholarship pays for everything but the outside hitter's living costs. At ARC Miller was the only freshmen starter in her first year but she really began to shine as a sophomore. Miller was the team MVP, made the All-Bay Valley Conference squad and was picked to the All-NorCal team as well. She led ARC to a third-place finish in the BVC.
