Auburn Food Closet's Stuff-A-Bus food drive returns May 23

The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet (AIFC) will hold its annual Stuff-A-Bus food drive on Saturday, May 23, at Save Mart, 386 Elm Ave. in Auburn. Donations will be collected from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. With the support of the community and host Save Mart, AIFC hopes to stuff the bus, provided by Pride Industries, with food items needed to restock the organization's shelves. Those wanting to donate can pick up a flyer as they enter the store, purchase items on the list or items of your choice and drop them off with AIFC volunteers outside the front doors or at the bus in the parking lot. "The Auburn Interfaith Food Closet Stuff-A-Bus campaign comes as we are entering the summer season when school is out and many families struggle to provide healthy, nutritious meals for their children in the absence of school breakfasts and lunches," said Judie Whitman, AIFC vice president and chair of the Food Resource Committee. "We look forward to the support we have always received from our generous neighbors as we work together to provide for those families and children in our community who are hungry and need a helping hand." In 2025, AIFC served nearly 37,000 individuals and more than 362,000 meals. With this increased demand, AIFC is in urgent need of the following items: Boxed cereal Meal in a can Mac & cheese Pasta Canned soup Canned tuna Canned green beans Canned fruits Donations for food and cash go directly to those in the community who are in need.
