AAUW Auburn awards $23K in scholarships

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) of Auburn awarded more than $23,000 in scholarships this year. The path to being awarded the scholarships involves the applicants filling out a comprehensive form that includes essays about their life goals and extracurricular work, in addition to verifying their grades. The committee studies each application carefully before awarding the scholarship. Each year, AAUW Auburn awards scholarships to young women who are graduating from the Placer Union High School District and women re-entering college after a hiatus or moving from a community college to a four-year college. The scholarships provide economic assistance for the young women to pursue additional education and training, enabling them to achieve economic and scholastic success. This year's $1,300 scholarships were awarded to the following 15 high school seniors and three Sierra College transfer students: Placer High School students Josselin Caballero Argueta, Elise Bergqvist, Morgan Boyme, Izadora Delmue, Kayli Sellers, Emily Vazquez and Taylor Westfall; from Foresthill High, Amber Wirth; from Colfax High, Avery Boyes; and from Del Oro, Leah Close, Sara Howard, Emma Leingang, Camille Scribner, Megan Shye and Sadie Stroup. Scholarship awards of $1,300 were also given to Sierra College transfer students Erika Duran, Noelia Santamaria and Christina Tinker.
