Edward Mikita

Edward Mikita, 68, a native of Pittsburgh, PA and 12-year resident of Auburn, died Nov. 22, 2005.Beloved husband of Yvonne Crockett. Father of Mark and Kathy Mikita of Rocklin, Michelle and Brian Nygarrd of El Dorado Hills, and Greg and Jonne Mikita of Fair Oaks. Stepfather of John and Janelle-Douglas of Lincoln, and Jennifer and Jarrod Jesser of Tracy. Grandfather of Melinda and Greg Mikita, Bricen and Ashton Nygarrd, Aiden Mikita, and Jessica, Joshua, Joselyn, and Jackalyn Douglas.His father and mother, John Mikita and Mary Helen Berta, and a grandson, Adam Jesser, preceded Mr. Mikita in death.He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Infant Mary Council, and Elks Lodge #518, Nevada City. He worked at Wemco Pumps in Sacramento for 35 years as quality assurance manager. On January 01, 2000 he retired from Floway Pumps in Fresno, then began a five-year career in the customer service department of Gottschalks department store. An avid hunter and fisherman, he enjoyed the outdoors, camping and tinkering on classic cars and drag boats.Services will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church, 11600 Atwood Road, Auburn. Rosary will be from 6-7 PM Tuesday, Nov. 29. The vigil will be from 4-6 PM and 7-9 PM. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 10 AM. Interment will be at New Auburn Cemetery. Reception to follow at Lake of the Pines Clubhouse, noon-3 PM. All are invited to attend.Flowers may be sent directly to St. Teresa on Tuesday, Nov. 29. Charitable contributions to the Cancer Thrift Store of Grass Valley, in Mr. Mikita's name, are also appreciated.
