Prosecutors say bloodstains found in Garcia's vehicle point to guilt

During opening statements in the Christie Wilson murder case, prosecutors said bloodstains found in Mario Garcia's vehicle will prove he is guilty of Wilson's murder. The defense contends that Garcia had nothing to do with Wilson's disappearance and that there is no evidence to prove she was murdered."Forensic evidence will tell the story that she was in the vehicle and that vehicle is a crime scene," said Garen Horst, deputy district attorney for Placer County. "The evidence will show Christie Wilson is dead and the defendant is guilty of murder." Attorneys for Garcia said just the opposite. "When Mario Garcia drove the car, or the crime scene, to the sheriff's office, the hair wasn't there," said Garcia's defense attorney Ron Peters. "And as far as the so called blood on the seat goes, they don't even know if it was blood." The trial began Monday morning in Dept. 41 of Sacramento County Superior Court.Garcia, 54, of Auburn is suspected of killing Wilson, 27, last October.The two were seen leaving the Thunder Valley Casino in Lincoln during the early morning hours of Oct. 5.
