Community Thanks: Lions, Assistance League, Lorang

Lions clubs produced bang of a paradeThank you to the six Lions Clubs who, partnering with the Chamber of Commerce, put countless hours into organizing and producing the 4th of July Parade for Auburn and its neighboring communities. Kudos to Auburn 49er's, Auburn Host, Newcastle Golden Spike, Meadow Vista, Higgins Diggins and our newest partner Loomis Lions for all the hard work that was done to make the parade a huge success. Thanks to the Placer County Sheriff's Department for providing the color guard this year. It was a pleasure and an honor to have Sheriff Ed Bonner (a member of the Loomis Lions Club) as Grand Marshall. We had a lot of wonderful entries in the parade with awards going to Joslin's East West Karate for Best Presentation, Lindenwood Equestrians for Best Energy and Auburn Pageants for Best Theme. We appreciate the Wells Fargo Bank bringing their stagecoach and team to our parade. Another big thank you goes to Auburn Nissan for providing autos for the Grand Marshall and the Junior Grand Marshall, also to David Brown of Union 76 on Lincoln Way for the Cadillac convertible for the City Council representatives. We are extremely excited about the way the parade turned out and sincerely appreciate all the people who had fun watching the parade wind its way down Lincoln and High Streets to the Gold Country Fairgrounds. It was a great American community celebration that gets bigger and better each year. You have done this by patronizing our Thrift Shop at 1263 Grass Valley Highway, Fiddler Green, in Auburn, and donating clothing and household items.With the monies raised through the shop and grants we have been able to clothe 576 children in need, provide backpacks, dictionaries and tutor elementary children.
