Tom Cisar

Tom CisarMaj. Tom Cisar, 74, of Rocklin, died Friday, Sept.3, 2004, in UC Davis Medical Center.Born May 6, 1930, in Eddystone, Pa., to Harry and Mary Cisar, he moved to Los Angeles as a teenager and graduated from North Hollywood High School.He was a 1951 graduate of The Salvation Army Training College in San Francisco and served numerous appointments in Salvation Army Corps. Under his 11-year leadership, The Salvation Army in Santa Ana grew to be one of the largest and most innovative congregations in the Army World, receiving distinguished service awards from the city of Santa Ana, Orange County supervisors, Disneyland, and the Gold Award from the United Way of Orange County.After many appointment to regional leadership positions throughout the western United States, he moved to Rocklin in 1996 and worked as consultant for The Salvation Army?s Del Oro Division.Surviving are his wife, the former Elsa Carlson; daughter, Carol Beard of Valley Center, Calif.; a son, Harry Cisar of Albuquerque, N.M.; brothers, Harry Cisar of Redondo Beach and Walter Cisar of Weed; and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Doreen Goldthwaite, and a sister, Helen Peterson.Friends will be received from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today, Sept. 8, 2004 at The Salvation Army, 286 Sutter St., Auburn. The memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at The Salvation Army in Tustin Ranch.
