Where's an art patron to go these days?

Art in Lincoln and Loomis is elusive. It's here but it's hard to ferret out what it is, when it is and where it is. So, what's an art patron to do?You can read this column for starters. Here goes.Lincoln Arts has a gallery show underway now, featuring garden art. Check the Lincoln Arts online or call 645-9713 if you're interested in submitting art.Sierra Framing has its Western-themed art in place. The Place's gallery and gift shop may be stocking some unique terra cotta from Gladding McBean. At Loomis' High Hand Gallery, four local artists will be showcased in a third-Saturday artist reception on July 18 .The High Hand Gallery is joining with the High Hand Nursery to put on a show benefiting the American Cancer Society. The cooperative group is calling the show, "Girls Night Out & The Artful Bra Show."The show runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. from July 17 through July 19 with a Ladies Night Out scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. July 18. Admission to that show will be $20 and will include an opportunity to take part in a continuous silent auction.By the way, last month, we neglected to mention the Lincoln Hills Art Association. Based in the Sun City Lincoln Hills community within our Lincoln community, it sponsors three major annual events. These include a fine-arts show at the Orchard Creek Lodge in February, an Art in the Park Arts and Crafts show in the outdoor Pavilion in May and the Open Studio Tour on Sept. 5 and Sept. 6.- Paul Apfel is Lincoln Arts president.
