Voices of Lincoln poetry chapbook released

A chapbook featuring the winners of the 2007 Voices of Lincoln poetry contest is now available through The Friends of the Lincoln Library. The annual contest, presented by the Poets Club of Lincoln, and sponsored by the Friends of the Lincoln Library, features the following poetry categories: cowboy poetry, haiku, long free verse, rhyming (any form) and short free verse. Special awards are always given to young poets who participate in the contest.This year, poet Gene Conglin's memory was honored by the reading of his poem, "Eight Seconds O'Life," which he wrote in 2005. The winners in the fourth annual poetry contest about Lincoln were Bonnie Dunlap, Evelyn Stecher, David Mendosa, David Anderson, Jim Fulcomer, Glenn Allen, Jack Fabian, Harry Cornwall and Elizabeth Bollington, all from Lincoln. The winners from Roseville were Cleo Kocol and Walt Brown, and two young poets, Mollisonde Williams and Matthew George. Also among the winners were Roberta D'Arcy from Browns Valley, Elana O'Losky from Danville and Stephen Sterling from Fair Oaks. All proceeds from the sale of the 2007 poetry chapbook go to the Friends of the Lincoln Library.The fifth annual Voices of Lincoln Poetry Contest will be held in October.
