Kenneth Francis Royer 10/1/1931 - 5/6/2019

Kenneth Royer, of Roseville, CA, born on October 1, 1931, in Sacramento, CA, to the late William Francis Royer and Florence Royer, passed away at age 87 on May 6, 2019 in Lodi, CA. Ken graduated from Christian Brother's High School, and the University of California, Berkeley, with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed at Aerojet, in Sacramento, for 37 years. Some of his key projects included Gemini Flight Program, Titan Missile Project, and the orbit engine used in the first space shuttles.In the 1970's, Ken served as a Mayor and Council Member for the City of Roseville. He had numerous accomplishments focusing on parks, recreation, bus and bicycle transportation, and the Sunrise Boulevard greenbelt project, in addition to the institution of the Roseville Public Library.Ken will be remembered as hard-working, kind-hearted, fun-loving, and most proud of his three daughters following in his footsteps becoming engineers.Ken enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and bocce ball with his loving wife, Loretta. He especially enjoyed being outdoors and made frequent trips to their Tahoe Donner cabin, where the family gathered to swim, play tennis, and downhill ski in the winter.Ken is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Loretta, and three daughters; Lorene Harden (Pat), Paula Fernandez (Marsial), and Elaine Lang (Mike); as well as grandchildren Max Wagner (Brooke), Joseph and Chris Fernandez, Allison Brannam, Natalie Scott (Brandon), great grandchildren Emerson Wagner, and Preston, Rylan, and Kira Scott. He was preceded in death by brothers William and Dave Royer, and granddaughter Maegan Harden.The family is forever grateful for the staff at Brookdale Kettleman Lane Memory Care Facility, who treated Ken as a family member. Also, a special thank you to the Vitas Healthcare Hospice Care Team.A private graveside memorial was held at the Lodi Cherokee Memorial Park Cascade Garden on May 10, 2019.
