Jones secures District 4 County Supervisor seat in final vote

Suzanne Jones won the District 4 Placer County Board of Supervisors seat from Kirk Uhler, and the other two incumbent supervisors kept their seats, as the Placer County Elections Office released the final vote count for the 2020 President Primary Election on April 2. Of the county's 247,923 registered voters, 142,605 turned in ballots, which represents 57.52 percent. Following are the final election results: California 4th Congressional District: Incumbent Congressman Tom McClintock kept his lead with 49.21 percent of the vote over Brynne Kennedy's 40.67 percent. This race will be decided during November's General Election. State Senate District 1: Incumbent State Sen. Brian Dahle won by a 20.53-percent margin over Pamela Swartz. This race will be decided in the November election. State Assembly District 1: Incumbent Megan Dahle held the highest percentage of votes with 50.7 percent, and opponent Elizabeth Betancourt secured 44.41 percent. This race will be decided in November. State Assembly District 6: Assemblyman Kevin Kiley faced Jackie Smith to try to secure a second term in the State Assembly. Kiley secured 58.22 percent of the votes to Smith's 41.78 percent. This race will be decided in November. Placer County Board of Supervisors: District 3 Supervisor Jim Holmes secured another term with 53.87 percent of the vote to 39.28 percent for opponent Mike Murray. In District 4, Suzanne Jones secured 51.73 percent of the vote to unseat incumbent Kirk Uhler, who earned 48.27 percent. District 5 incumbent Cindy Gustafson secured 74.06 percent of the vote to Christopher Mitchell Kershner's 25.94 percent. Measures Measure A: The measure would have authorized a $49-million bond to repair aging classrooms and infrastructures in the Eureka Union School District in Roseville but was defeated with a 56.37-percent no vote. Measure B: The measure would have authorized $4,700,000 in bonds to modernize classrooms, restrooms and facilities and make other improvements for the Colfax Elementary School District but was defeated with a 54.59 percent no vote. Measure D: The measure would have approved a $29-million bond for the Western Placer Unified School District in Lincoln to construct a new aquatic center and athletic fields but was defeated with 66.24 percent voting no.
