What are you doing to maintain good mental health during these difficult times of the Coronavirus and Stay-at-Home orders? Asked by Nancy Vigran to Soroptimist International of Loomis Basin members. Sharla Nichols Caves "I have been doing my best to make sure I take some time to relax each day. This has been crucial for me, as I have been working with other members of the community on the Loomis Emergency Business Task Force to help our local businesses, as well as helping my clients navigate the market fluctuations." Ashley Summers "Taking online calisthenics classes from my husband who lives overseas, having a daily video meeting with all the staff in our office (I truly miss their smiling faces every day) and, as long as I can afford it, treating myself to two take-out meals per week from one of our Loomis restaurants. We love Loomis!" Terry Duarte "Because I am not spending as much time in my car, I have been preparing healthy meals and eating at home. I am finding joy in sewing masks for Soroptimist and just catching up on spring cleaning. This week, I am preparing to do some continuing education, trying to enjoy this downtime as a re-boot to the year!" Rae DeGabriele "I have my 94-year-old mother living with me. Keeps me on my toes making sure she is safe and all her needs are taken care of. I have been busy making medical masks for Masks4Millions and for the guards at Folsom Prison. In total, I have made over 120 masks. I love it. Also, keeping up with project Days4Girls, which are homemade sanitary napkin kits for Third World countries where personal hygiene products are not available. Staying inside working while my mother watches westerns on TV." Mechelle Bertolucci-Sanchez "I am personally taking time to meditate daily. It's a place for me to build a kinder, more intimate connection with myself. More compassion, forgiveness, allowing a flux of emotions to show up, patience and gratitude. I am giving back to the community by leading a free Inner Outer Movement Ritual via Zoom on Monday, Wednesday, Friday mornings at 8:30 a.m. A place and time for purpose, physical movement, inspiration and community connection." Karen Fraser-Middleton "I'm walking outside daily, sewing face covers for #mask4millions, staying connected with video calls and feeling energized by strategizing with clients to adapt and deliver services in innovative new ways." Bonnie London "It helps me to help others so I've been working with Placer Community Foundation on the Covid19 Response Fund to strengthen our safety net, support groups like Operation Shield and the Loomis Basin Soroptimists who've been making face shields and face masks for healthcare providers.
