Thunder Valley Casino to reopen June 8

As counties across the region begin advancing further into Stage 2 of reopening their business communities, several tribal gaming facilities are joining suit. Placer County's Thunder Valley Casino is now the third area casino to announce it is reopening as of June 8. While specific details of the measures that will be implemented to ensure social distancing are yet to come, Gold Country Media has confirmed the opening date with Doug Elmets, president of Elmets Communications, which manages public relations for Thunder Valley Casino. Thunder Valley Casino Resort closed its doors to the public on Friday, March 20, amidst the COVID-19 crisis as state mandated stay-at-home orders were announced. The facility at 1200 Athens Avenue in Lincoln joins the likes of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Wheatland and Red Hawk Casino in El Dorado County, which have decided to open their doors, despite pleas from Gov. Gavin Newsom to delay their openings until Stage 3 of the state reopening road map. In a phone call with Gold Country Media on Thursday afternoon, Elmets explained the reopening date was being announced on the casino website and a formal announcement with complete details of their plans and safety procedures is forthcoming on Tuesday, May 26.
