Auburn man charged with robbery following incident at ampm

An Auburn man was arrested Aug. 11 on suspicion of robbery. A disturbance was reported at ampm on Dry Creek Road in Auburn at 2 a.m. between a man and the store clerk, the Placer County Sheriff's Office reported. The suspect threatened the clerk and placed him in a chokehold before stealing a bottle of wine and leaving the store. With the help of surveillance video, the suspect was identified as Michael Lane Medley, 55. Deputies found Medley hiding in a bush near the store. According to the Sheriff's Office, Medley became verbally aggressive, threatening to shoot and kill the deputies, and did not follow the deputies' commands. A K-9 officer was then utilized to bring Medley into compliance. Medley was charged with robbery, threats and obstructing and resisting a peace officer. He remained in custody Wednesday with bail set at $50,000. A video of the disturbance can be viewed below.
