All hands on deck for Granite Bay house fire

A Granite Bay house went up in flames on Wednesday afternoon along the 7000 block of Shelborne Drive, causing the South Placer Fire District to call a second alarm for mutual aid, according to a Fire Department press release. There were no injuries reported and no other homes or properties were involved in the fire, according to fire officials. The call for mutual aid came at 4:05 p.m. Wednesday, according to South Placer Fire Department public information officer Darren McMillin. Roseville Fire Department, Rocklin Fire Department and Penryn Fire Department responded with several trucks and engines to assist in suppressing the flames. The Roseville Fire Department sent out Battalion Chief 1, Truck 1, Engine 4 and Engine 6. The Rocklin Fire Department provided Battalion Chief 24, Truck 24, Engine 23 and Breathing Support Unit 23. The Penryn Fire Department sent out Engine 38 to assist. According to McMillin, the fire was contained at 5:12 p.m. Wednesday and was caused by a chimney fire.
