Elaine Rogers Baldo Holt 12/21/1921 - 3/29/2021

Our beloved matriarch Elaine Rogers Baldo Holt died on March 29, 2021, at the age of 99. She was born to Tom and Mary Rogers, who both came from hard-working Portuguese families descended from the Azore Islands. Raised on a 38-acre fruit ranch between Auburn and Newcastle, she was one of the youngest in a large family and cherished memories of her seven siblings and the many animals that lived on the ranch. She had fond recollections of cooking and baking with her mother each day to feed the workers and her family. These recipes remain family favorites to this day. Outside ranch life, Elaine attended Newcastle Elementary, where she learned to play tennis, a pastime that she would enjoy well into her seventies. She attended Placer High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1939, many of whom remained life-long friends. Elaine was a lively presence on campus and enjoyed participating in various clubs. As a senior, she met her future husband, Peter Baldo, while he was a student at Placer College. Later, she would also graduate from Placer College.Elaine and Peter married in 1942 while he was on leave from the war, and eventually, they settled in Auburn, where they were both employed at Bank of America. They had one son, Russ Baldo, and she was a devoted wife and mother. Active in the Saint Joseph Church community and parish school, she served as president of the parents' club. She was also active in assisting her husband in the Auburn 20/30 Club, and the Auburn Host Lions Club. Elaine was a constant support to Peter until his untimely death in 1967. Shortly after Peter passed away, Elaine was employed with Placer County, where she enjoyed the opportunity to continue serving her local community. Elaine was introduced to William Holt in 1972, and after a short courtship, they married in 1975 and eventually moved to Santa Rosa. In addition to playing tennis, bridge remained her favorite pastime with friends well into her later years. In 1998, she and Bill moved back to the Roseville area to be near their family. Bill passed away in 2002, and Elaine eventually moved into The Auburn Ravine Terrace to enjoy a happy and secure life with many old and new friends.Elaine is survived by her son Russ Baldo, his wife, Susanne Dimmen Baldo, and twobeloved grandchildren, Brittany Haydon and her husband Matthew Haydon ofAuburn, and Peter Baldo and wife Hillary Davis Baldo of Grass Valley, CA. She has three loving great-granddaughters, Brenn and Kate Haydon of Auburn and Harper Baldo of Grass Valley, CA. Her family will cherish the many memories, and her legacy of kindness and love will live on.Our family would like to thank those family and friends who enriched Elaine's full life. She will be remembered as a loving wife, patient mother, selfless grandmother, and proud great-grandmother.A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Church in Lincoln, CA.
