Nevada felon arrested for firearm possession in Auburn

A Sparks, Nevada, man was arrested May 31 on suspicion of firearm possession in Auburn. A Placer County Sheriff's deputy pulled over a vehicle at Interstate 80 and Elm Avenue. According to the arrest report, the traffic stop was due to the vehicle having no license plates. The Sheriff's Office reported the driver, Jalen Dedrick, 26, advised he was on parole. A parole search of the vehicle revealed a semi-automatic Glock firearm loaded with 15 9mm rounds in a backpack located behind the driver's seat. The arrest report noted a record check was completed on the firearm, and it was found to be unregistered. Dedrick was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a prohibited person in possession of ammunition, carrying a concealed weapon and carrying a loaded firearm not registered in his name with bail set at $115,000. Dedrick remained in custody Friday and is ineligible for bail.
