Placer County Sheriff's crime log: FBI scam, bar burglary, hit and run in stolen vehicle, more

June 2 A 58-year-old Auburn resident reported being bilked out of $2,030 after receiving an email from who she believed was the president of a motorcycle club asking for charitable donations. The victim learned after providing the gift card numbers the email of the club's president was hacked. A 38-year-old West Sacramento resident reported a theft at Thunder Valley Casino outside Lincoln after her phone was stolen. Her phone was then used to access her EDD account and complete $2,000 worth of transactions. A loss of $2,400 was reported. June 3 Carrola Tiago-Freitas, 25, of Elk Grove was arrested on suspicion of residential burglary in the 900 block of Crother Road in Meadow Vista. Shad Gilbert Killian, a 45-year-old Colfax transient, was arrested on suspicion of possession of meth for sale, transportation of meth, destruction of evidence, possession of a baton and possession of mace in the Canyon Way and Canyon Creek Drive area of Colfax. An 84-year-old Lincoln resident reported a burglary in the 3300 block of Western Lane after finding the sliding glass door of his residence open and various items missing. A silver or gray Nissan Xterra with roof utility bars and KC-style round lights was seen driving from the area at a high rate of speed. A loss of $300 was reported. A 74-year-old Lincoln resident reported being bilked out of $45,500 after receiving a call from someone claiming to be "Kyle" with the FBI. The individual advised her identity was used in a money laundering and drug smuggling operation and the only way to avoid prosecution was to purchase gift cards from various stores and provide the card numbers. A 27-year-old Loomis resident reported the fraudulent use of a credit card after finding an unapproved $834 payment to Progressive Insurance on his Chime Bank account. June 4 John Dayton Dawson, 56, of Colfax was arrested on suspicion of possession of tear gas by a felon in the 200 block of Highway 174 in Colfax. Anthony Lee Herrera, 43, of Roseville was cited on suspicion of possession of burglary tools. Rhonda M. Wallace, a 47-year-old Roseville transient, was cited on suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia. The citations followed a traffic stop in the Fiddyment Road and Old Coach Drive area of Roseville. Temiga Louise Brown, 47, of Sacramento was arrested on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle following a traffic stop for no license plate in the Fiddyment Road area of Roseville. A 51-year-old Auburn resident reported a theft in the 1200 block of Grass Valley Highway after a package containing a laptop was not received. A loss of $500 was reported. June 5 Jonathan Howard Hughes, 37, of Lockeford was arrested on suspicion of evading a peace officer by driving in the opposite direction of traffic, hit and run with injury, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a baton, possession of burglary tools and resisting arrest in the Athens Avenue and N. Foothills Boulevard area of Lincoln. A 51-year-old Sacramento resident reported vandalism in the 500 block of Sacramento Street in Dutch Flat after two windows of her vehicle were shattered. Nothing appeared to be missing from the vehicle, and a loss of $500 was reported. June 6 David Michael Fuchs, 33, of Auburn was arrested on suspicion of forgery, possession of stolen property, meth possession and possession of drug paraphernalia in the First Street and D Avenue area of Auburn. A burglary was reported at Mountain Springs Hitch-n-Post in the 30800 block of Magra Road in Gold Run after an unknown individual turned off the electrical power and stole bags of cash hidden inside the bar. A loss of $1,300 was reported. June 7 Steven Sharp, 32, of Grass Valley was arrested on suspicion of identity theft and possession of a switchblade following a traffic stop for expired registration in the 2800 block of Bell Road in Auburn. Brandon Mason, a 29-year-old Auburn transient, was cited on suspicion of meth possession in the 2800 block of Bell Road in Auburn.
