Firefighters extinguish two North Auburn fires in 4 days

Firefighters responded to a structure fire on Bean Road in Auburn on Thursday morning. According to Mary Eldridge, public information officer for CAL FIRE, firefighters contained the fire to a detached garage. No damage was caused to the single-family residence. The cause is under investigation. Responding agencies included CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Department, Placer County Sheriff's Office and AMR Ambulance. Firefighters also responded to a structure fire at the end of Scofield way, near Bean Road, in Auburn at 3:51 a.m. Monday. CAL FIRE/Placer County Fire Department Battalion Chief Brian Eagan said the fire originated on the front deck stair area of the home. Eagan also said a neighboring home was threatened for a short period of time and threat to vegetation was minimal due to there being a good clearance around the home. According to Eagan, the fire was contained at 4:50 a.m., however, the home was "heavily damaged." Resources remained on scene for several hours to extinguish hot spots and assist the residence. Eagan confirmed there were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however, fireworks are not believed to be a factor.
