Darrell Harmon 5/26/1943 - 6/20/2021

Rodney Darrell Harmon was born May 26, 1943 in Zela, WV to Herb and Ceil Harmon. In his teens the family moved to southern California and later migrated to Lincoln where Darrell finished high school and spent the rest of his life. He passed away Sunday, June 20, 2021—Father's Day. We will forever celebrate this day differently.Darrell married his high school sweetheart, Louise, and they had three spectacular children: Darrell Duane, Dena Louise, and Darrin Dean. His highest aspiration was to have a family. He would often tell people that his kids and grandkids brought him the greatest joy in life.He was a plumber by trade and inventor by nature. He holds a patent for a "flying saucer" and noodled on other, plumbing-related inventions.In his spare time, he supported all of his children in their pursuits. He was baseball coach for both Darrell and Darrin (and many other boys) for over a decade. He was Dena's unflagging supporter at her softball and volleyball games. In midlife, Darrell discovered country swing dance and spent many years spinning lucky partners around the dance floor and teaching others how to enjoy this passion of his.A memorial service in Darrell's honor will be held Saturday, July 17, 11:00 a.m. to noon, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building at 252 O Street in Lincoln.
