Two Folsom homes spared of heavy damage from fast moving fire

Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a fire that threatened two homes and damaged one on the 100 block of Perraud Drive in Folsom Tuesday afternoon. Firefighters were notified of the fire from multiple 911 calls reporting a vegetation and tree fire near 121 and 123 Perraud Drive. The fire was originally burning near the street between the driveways of two different homes. When firefighters arrived, the flames had rapidly spread to exterior of the garage and an attached shade structure of one home, along with a fence and vegetation that border the neighboring property. Upon arrival, firefighters immediately confirmed the residents of both homes had evacuated safely and implemented an aggressive attack to prevent spread to additional properties while working to protect neighboring homes. The fire was knocked down in approximately 19 minutes from arrival, according to reports. According to Folsom Fire Department Public Information Officers Lauren Ono, one firefighter was transported from the scene and treated for heat related illness. Crews remained on scene into the early evening to remove the remains of the shade structure and perform mop up to insure all neighboring structures are safe. With extreme dry conditions and concern for neighboring structures, multiple units from Folsom, Sacramento Metro Fire District and El Dorado Hills responded to the incident. A total of 4 engines, 2 trucks and one medic unit responded to the scene where 22 total firefighters participated in the response with 5 command staff members. At this time, the cause of the fire is under investigation.
