Folsom cop in hot water

Folsom Police Officer Evan Fardanesh, 34, was arrested earlier this week on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and battery after an incident at a local eatery.Folsom Police were called to a restaurant in the 25000 block of Blue Ravine Road early Sunday morning by a patron reporting the off-duty officer was intoxicated and had been involved in a physical altercation with the caller.Officers arrived on scene to find one of their own being accused of committing a crime. The officer was placed under arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol allegedly measured at .19, according to an official statement released by the police department.An additional charge of battery was added based upon the citizen's arrest for the physical incident, according to the statement. There were no reported injuries.Fardanesh has been with the Folsom Police Department for nine years. The case has been submitted to the district attorney's office for filing. The officer is on paid administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation.According to Officer Michelle Beattie, the officer was not booked into Sacramento County Jail when he was arrested."He was released to a responsible party," she said. "He didn't receive special treatment. That is an option that is available to us (and is) something we do with some DUI arrests."She said the citation and release of the officer, "is the same as an arrest."
