Intolerance is real threat to marriage

I'd like to respond to Bob Griffin's letter published July 24, 2008 in the Loomis News.I am forever fascinated when people use the Bible as a platform for espousing their own bigotry and intolerance. If Griffin could get past his own narrow-minded view of the world and the people in it, it might occur to him many gay and lesbian couples believe in the same family values he does. Same sex couples seek to give their children a home, family and protection from harm, the same as straight couples.The institution of marriage and the family are under attack. However, the attack is not from people wanting the rights, privileges and responsibilities given to all people in this country. The threat comes from people who use a book from which to launch intolerance and arrogance.I couldn't care less what you think sin is. If same-sex marriage can give strength to their relationships and provide the security and protection that their families deserve, then I am for it.Vic MarkeyLoomis
