Eagles' Bacharach wins SFL crown

Del Oro High freshman Brett Bacharach defeated Oakmont's Kyle Coates 6-4, 6-2 to claim the Sierra Foothill League singles tennis title last Thursday in Loomis. The win by Bacharach atoned for the Golden Eagle player's lone league loss of the season. Del Oro's Charlie Wyatt also played well in the singles division before falling in the third place match to Nathan Dudley of Rocklin, 6-3, 6-1. In SFL doubles tournament action, Taylor Carrington and Nick Koop landed a spot in the final with a 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 win over Nevada Union in the semifinals. They'll face Rocklin's top team in the final Monday at Del Oro. In B-flight action, Del Oro's Seth Alquist and Brad Taylor were slated to play teammates Paul Villa and Brandt Steinmetz in Monday's final at 3 p.m.
