Man arrested in Colfax for carrying 2 guns on Greyhound bus

A Bay Point resident was arrested Aug. 30 on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm in public. The Placer County Sheriff's Office received information at 11 a.m. regarding a possibly dangerous man on a Greyhound bus traveling from Reno to Sacramento. The suspect, identified as Jaquan Marvell Shaw, 24, was believed to be carrying two firearms. The Sheriff's Office reported one firearm was stolen earlier in the day. Deputies responded to the bus station in Colfax and located Shaw sitting on a bench in front of a liquor store. According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies created a diversion to put together a contact team and detained Shaw without incident. A search of Shaw's backpack revealed two loaded handguns. Shaw was charged with two counts of carrying a loaded firearm in public. The Sheriff's Office reported Shaw was also charged with two outstanding warrants out of Contra Costa and San Mateo counties. Shaw remained in custody Friday with bail set at $250,250.
