Oktoberfest to be celebrated Oct. 16

The Lincoln St. Joseph's Council Knights of Columbus hosts the 30th annual Oktoberfest on Oct.16 at the St. Joseph's Church Family Center, 280 Oak Tree Lane in Lincoln. The Oktoberfest is one of three annual fundraisers hosted by the Knights of Columbus, which also includes the August Luau and the annual crab fest in January. Oktoberfest is guided by chairman Gerold Voigt and a German feast is provided by chef Herb Pickell. This year's menu includes a German-style buffet with gourmet Schublig beef, Weisswurst veal or apple chicken German sausage; hot German potato salad; apple sauerkraut; veggies; rolls and dessert. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner is served at 6:45 p.m. Oct. 16. The Alpentaenzer Schuhplattler dancers will perform German, Swiss and Austrian folk dances. Music includes polkas, waltzes and big band music for dancing and listening entertainment. Oktoberfest proceeds are given back to the Lincoln community via scholarships, youth sports, Coats for Kids and other charitable programs.
