Area Veterans featured at EDH library

Look down an aisle to the left of the main desk at the El Dorado Hills Library and eyes are drawn to a large genealogy sign that hangs on the wall under the windows. The sign guides patrons to specially designated shelves filled with more than 400 genealogy books collected and curated by El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society members and available for genealogical research. But there's more to these shelves than books. Personal historical photos donated by El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society members now frame the pages of history available for genealogical research and give members an opportunity to share photos from their own family trees in a rotating gallery show of family history. In honor of Veterans Day, personal family photos celebrating the service of U.S. military veterans in war and peace from 1860 to 1945 have been donated by El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society members for a photographic tribute to family members who served their country in uniform. Although family names remain private, these portraits and casual off-duty snapshots speak volumes about the veterans' commitments to honor their country through unselfish service in time of war or peace. These photos are now on display at the El Dorado Hills Library, 7455 Silva Valley Parkway, just in time for Veterans Day. The El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society is a resource for members whether expert, novice or all those in between to learn more about their family history. Through guest speakers at monthly meetings, guidance provided at monthly workshops and a growing collection of genealogical books and resources at the El Dorado Hills Library, the group's purpose is to inspire members to discover more about their ancestry.
