DeWitt Theater Mixer sets stage for preserving history, community in North Auburn

The DeWitt Community Complex (DCC) Board of Directors announced the unveiling of updated plans to restore the Historic DeWitt Theater. After several months of conducting intensive electrical, plumbing, mechanical and structural evaluations and plans, JKAE architectural firm has created a development-oriented design for the theater which includes an outdoor activity area. An 8-foot expandable stage option is provided to accommodate performances requiring a larger stage with seating for 154 people, and the original stage will accommodate 196 seats. The new plans will help the DCC reach its motto, "Where Art, History, and Community Meet." The DCC is excited to share its progress and vision for renovating the theater and creating a community destination center for North Auburn. Chris Vicencio with JKAE states: "The Dewitt Community Complex organization's passion for bringing the historical theater back to life is something we feed off of as designers and is a cause we truly believe in. A revitalized Dewitt Theater will be a wonderful addition to Auburn and will help to bring a community multi-use venue back to the Dewitt Center that will reinvigorate the area and give people of all ages a special venue for the arts and community events." The DCC will unveil the new plans Dec. 2 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Moonraker Brewery, 12970 Earhart Ave., #100, in Auburn, for a meet and greet with the DCC Board of Directors and JKAE.
