Two arrested for posing as police, stealing marijuana

Two Nevada County men are in jail after posing as law enforcement and assaulting a resident.Christopher Lee Brooks, 26, and Clayton Robert Madsen, 30, remained jailed in Nevada County Tuesday on several charges including robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.At about 3:37 a.m. Oct. 10, Brooks, Madsen and a third suspect reportedly knocked on the door of a Keenan Way home in Grassy Valley and identified themselves as law enforcement, according to Nevada County Sheriff's Sgt. Stephen Tripp.The suspects then entered the home and took an unknown amount of marijuana in various stages of growth. One resident suffered a head injury after they were struck in the head with a blunt object, Tripp said.Nevada County Major Crimes Unit detectives followed leads to arrest two of the three suspects and recover the stolen marijuana. Brooks and Madsen were arrested at a home on the 100 block of King Court in Grass Valley.Detectives have gathered information about the third suspect's identity and are working toward making an arrest.Brooks and Madsen remained jailed at the Wayne Brown Correctional Facility in Nevada County on charges of strong-arm robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, damage to a telephone or power line, criminal conspiracy, false imprisonment and burglary.
