(John) Larry Ford

After 85 amazing years, and a brief valiant battle with Leukemia, (John) Larry Ford passed away Tuesday, November 30th, 2021. Larry was extremely close to his family and he will be greatly missed by his wife Sandra, daughters Melissa Ford Thurmon and Johnna Ford Piper, sons-in-law Steve Thurmon and Rainbow Piper, his grandchildren Sabrina Hinton, Emily Thurmon, Rowan Piper, Nathan Thurmon his great grandchild Tyler Hinton, and grandson-in-law Joseph Hinton, as well as his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and his many friends. He was a life-long resident of Auburn, a 1954 graduate of Placer High School and Sierra College. Anyone that knew him could tell you of his passion for his family, the 49ers football team - going all way back to the Kesar stadium days and for downhill skiing. He could be found every week on the ski slopes during the winter, usually on Wednesdays. He enjoyed his Thursday morning coffee meetings with his close friend Vic and had a passion for wood crafting those amazing trees. He had a love of music, especially Frank Sinatra and for cycling. He was known for his joyous attitude, for being a great friend, his fabulous record collection, his wine cellar and love of all things Christmas. His family is having a Celebration of Life for Larry on December 12th from 2:30 to 5:30 at the Auburn Tahoe Club, 902 Lincoln Way, and his family asks that you come in whatever attire brings you joy.
