Folsom Lake Crossing closed due to major accident; 2 killed, 1 critical

Folsom Lake Crossing has been closed to through traffic due to a major injury accident, according to a statement from the Folsom Police Department. The road was closed at 4 p.m. and is expected to remain closed into the evening. At 3:55 p.m. units were dispatched to the incident. Folsom's Engine 36, El Dorado Hills Truck 85 and Folsom Medic 36 was dispatched to the incident. Upon arrival, first responders reported extrication was underway as an additional medic unit was being dispatched to the scene, but was soon cancelled as first responders confirmed the victim has passed. The Folsom Telegraph has confirmed the accident was a head on collision between two mid-size sedans. According to Folsom Police Chief Rick Hillman who was on scene, the drivers of both vehicles were killed and a third victim has been transported with major injuries. Crash investigators are on scene and the roadway is expected to be closed until at least 8 p.m. tonight.
