Fire damaged Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort set to open for one weekend

After being heavily damaged from the Caldor Fire in fall of last year, the slopes at Sierra-at-Tahoe ski resort have remained closed as work continues to restore the longtime destination that is the closest to the Sacramento region. Today. The resort announced it will reopen for one weekend this season, April 9-10.The weekend that is being bannered as a weekend to "reflect and reconnect together with your fellow Sierra family members. Lift tickets for the opening are set to go on sale March 16 at 8 a.m. In addition to skiing, the resort will have live music, competitions and giveaways for all to enjoy during their visit. "After a year of unforeseen events and unknown obstacles, we are ecstatic to welcome passholders, ticket holders, and all those who love Sierra back to the place Where Play Reigns Free," reads a statement from the resort. The resort was closed for several months as it worked to repair damages caused by the Caldor fire. Sierra-at-Tahoe is planning for a full opening next winter, skiing and riding will still be limited throughout the weekend as there is still a great deal of work to be done. The resort will be open that day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during the event. Season passes for this year and last year will be valid for the event. Tickets will cost $60 for adults and young adults, while child and "super senior" tickets will cost $50.
