Auburn man arrested for child endangerment

An Auburn man was arrested March 22 on suspicion of child endangerment. The Placer County Sheriff's Office reported deputies were dispatched just before 2:30 a.m. regarding a report of a missing 2-year-old boy. According to the Sheriff's Office, the child's father, Abel Mosqueda, 30, took the boy to an unknown location and was armed with a knife. Deputies around the Highway 49 area located Mosqueda and the boy at a 76 gas station. The child was unharmed. A field sobriety test was conducted on Mosqueda, as it was suspected he was under the influence of cocaine, the Sheriff's Office reported. Mosqueda was charged with child endangerment and being under the influence of a controlled substance. The Sheriff's Office reported Mosqueda was also charged with destroying and concealing evidence while being transported to the Auburn Jail. Mosqueda remained in custody Friday with bail set at $15,000.
