Let's Go: Enjoy the great waters Folsom has to offer at Lake Natoma and Folsom Lake

With Folsom Lake along Folsom's northern boundary and Lake Natoma to the west, paddleboarders, kayakers, sailboats and water lovers of all kinds have some of the easiest access that you'll find in the Highway 50 corridor! Both Folsom Lake and Lake Natoma are part of the Folsom Lake State Recreation Area (SRA), managed by California State Parks, each with several access points. In addition to water recreation, both offer picnic and day-use areas, biking and hiking trails, and camping. April through October are prime times to visit, although the site is open year-round. Local lakes fast facts: Folsom LakeCreated in 1955 by the construction of Folsom Dam, Folsom Lake boasts 10,000 surface acres of water when full and 75 miles of shoreline! The shoreline is home to miles of paved and dirt trails and several scenic vistas, including Folsom Point and Beals Point. Visitors also have access to a marina, multiple trailheads, and even a natural reserve: the Mormon Islands Wetlands Natural Reserve. Lake NatomaAs part of the American River that has been dammed at one end by Folsom Lake and by Nimbus Dam at the other, Lake Natoma's quiet waters make it an idyllic spot for kayaking and paddleboarding. Day-use areas and put-in locations include Nimbus Dam and Negro Bar; kayak and paddleboard rentals are plentiful nearby.
