Victim shot after altercation at Halloween party

A single gunshot wound was the result of a Halloween altercation in Rocklin. Approximately 11:14 p.m. Oct. 31, Rocklin Police officers responded to a call of a fight occurring at a costume party at 3998 Rawhide Road in Rocklin. Officers arrived to find one victim had suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper right leg.Witnesses, including 22-year-old Nathan Ricci of Rocklin, said an altercation erupted when a group of people showed up uninvited. "Nobody knew who they were," Ricci said, who attended the party at a mutual friend's house. Ricci said the suspect allegedly got mad that nobody would let him into the house party. During the altercation, one suspect produced a small caliber handgun and fired a single shot into the crowd, striking the victim. According to Rocklin Police, the suspects fled the location in a vehicle immediately after the shooting. Ricci said approximately 30 people were at the party, mostly high school students and people in their early 20s. For Ricci, he said this event has halted his partying. "That much said, no more," he said, of an atmosphere that can result in people drinking too much and dangerous situations. The victim was transported to Sutter Roseville Medical Center and is in stable condition, according to police. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, Rocklin Police Lt.
