Roseville City Council postpones this week's meeting as members attended Cap to CAP

Roseville City Council members usually have bi-weekly council meetings every first and third Wednesday of the month. However, according to Roseville Deputy City Manager Megan Scheid, this week's City Council meeting was canceled due to a council quorum not being met. In other words, according to Scheid, at least three of the five City Council members must be present to have a meeting. Postponing City Council meetings is not typical, Scheid added, except during the holidays and occasionally during the summer when council members are away on vacation or out of town with their families. Roseville public information officer Brian Jacobson told Gold Country Media Wednesday afternoon that three of the five Roseville council members are in Washington, D.C. this week for the 50th annual Capitol-to-Capitol (Cap-to-Cap) trip with regional leaders to meet with federal legislators and staff. Local leaders attend the annual Capitol-to-Capitol program to secure funding and resources for high-priority projects in the region and raise local concerns to officials at the national level, according to the Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce. Roseville City Council will meet for two Wednesdays in a row this month to make up for Wednesday's missed meeting. While next Wednesday's Roseville council meeting is categorized as "special," Scheid told Gold Country Media that the meeting "will be a normal City Council meeting." Roseville City Council will be back on its original schedule with its May 18 City Council meeting.
