Cameron recently joined the Marines and had previously worked for Starbucks. Rahimi-Reid said it was his idea that she open up a coffee house and he helped teach her how to make drinks.Occupation: Licensed cosmetologist. Rahimi-Reid has owned Mina's Salon for seven years and Mina's Coffee House for five months.What do you do for a living?I have been licensed doing hair since I was a junior in high school. I've learned it is physically a lot of work. This opportunity (the coffee shop) came up because of my son, Cameron. Without him, this wouldn't have been possible. The few months that I had him, he was amazing. This was a good lesson for him, a great lesson for me because I didn't know what it took making drinks; I had no clue.I came in telling them (her customers) that I've never done this before, I cannot do it without you. I opened up to any advice they gave me.Describe your typical day.I wake up at 3:30 a.m., I'm out of the house by 4:15 a.m. I go and get my dairy and pastries. I open up the coffee house at 20 to five, I have regulars that come every single day. They're such great customers; if I'm running behind they help me out. I'm there until 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. I leave here (the coffee house,) and go to the hair salon from 2 p.m. until 7 or 7:30 at night. Then I go home, do my motherly duties and then go to bed. I do that seven days a week at the coffee house, six days a week at the salon.What do you like about coffee?I like how it makes me feel so early in the morning. It doesn't take much to get people in a good mood, you give them a cup of coffee and a pastry and they're happy. What is your favorite drink to make so far?Caramel Macchiato. It was challenging at first. I still struggle with a cappuccino; the foam is the hardest part.What is your favorite part about doing hair?The customers. I treat every customer as if they were my mom, aunt, grandma and sister. My success in anything I do is I never see anything negative, I look at everything and everyone in a positive way. I'm a people person. A lot of people have quit therapy because they say it's better therapy because it's a happy atmosphere. You hear a lot of stories, they really believe in you and trust you and you're able to give advice. It's cool that someone really trusts in you and believes in you.What would someone be surprised to learn about you?I love to sing. I used to be in choir and jazz choir. What I love about singing is it's happy, even when you're singing a sad song because it makes you feel happy.What do you do for fun?I haven't done it in five months but I like to shop and be outdoors. I love to be at home with the family. I'm really missing that.What is your favorite way to relax?Being home for a couple of hours. Being home is relaxing right now.Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions?This is going to be the first year that I'm going to order a dinner from Raley's. I'm going to try that this year.
