Two teens killed in solo crash on SR 193

As of Wednesday morning, California Highway Patrol (CHP) is still actively investigating a fatal collision that left two teenagers dead on July 21. An 18-year-old Lincoln male and a 16-year-old Loomis male died on July 21 from injuries in a solo vehicle collision on State Road 193, according to CHP Officer David Martinez. At this time, the Placer County Coroner's Office has not released the names of the victims. According to Placer County Sheriff's Public Information Officer Angela Musallam, the coroner's division is still working to verify the identity of the victims. The solo vehicle collision occurred at westbound State Road 193, west of Dutch Court, according to Martinez. CHP officers at about 10:11 p.m. July 21 determined that the Mini Cooper driver westbound on State Road 193 lost control, struck a tree on the north shoulder and the car caught fire, Martinez said. As of Wednesday, the investigation appears speed to be a contributing factor, according to Martinez. Alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a contributing factor but that is still to be determined through a toxicology report from the Placer County Coroner's Office.
