Auburn man found guilty of murder in 2020 Roseville hotel shooting

The Placer County District Attorney's Office confirmed Tuesday an Auburn man was found guilty of first-degree murder related to a Sept. 18, 2020 shooting at the Home 2 Suites by Hilton Hotel in Roseville. Anders Johanson-Fulilangi, 29, was involved in a robbery with two other individuals; Michale L. Fotfili, 37, of Sacramento and Angelica Garcia, 35, of Citrus Heights. According to the District Attorney's Office, Johanson-Fulilangi beat the victim with a firearm while robbing him, shot him 17 times and left him in a hallway of the hotel. According to a prior Gold Country Media report, Fotofili and his wife, Garcia, rented a room in the hotel on Sept. 17. On Sept. 18, gunshots were heard in the room and hallway a few minutes after 7:30 a.m. and Johanson-Fulilangi was seen on surveillance video exiting the hotel with a gun in his hand and leaving in a black Chevrolet Yukon. Johanson-Fulilangi was arrested by the Reno Police Department on Sept. 19 following a brief vehicle chase. According to the District Attorney's Office, a jury returned the guilty verdict on Aug. 5. Johanson-Fulilangi will be sentenced on Monday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. at the Placer County Superior Court Department 20 at the Santucci Justice Center in Roseville.
