Mother Nature cooperates for Auburn's 'Symphony and Art in the Park'

Mother Nature smiled upon the Auburn Symphony and its patrons on Saturday, Sept. 17. The inaugural "Symphony and Art in the Park" was graced with an evening when the temperature dropped, the smoke cleared, the rain held off and the wind died down. An estimated crowd of more than 750 attended the event and enjoyed not only the live music but the beautiful art exhibits lining the walkways. Many of the artists were on hand to talk about their work, engaging the public and promoting the upcoming Placer Artists Tour in November. The Placer County Youth Orchestra performed before the Auburn Symphony. The crowd delighted in favorites such as the "Star-Spangled Banner," a Sousa march and Gershwin's "Strike up the Band," and experienced a taste of the season ahead with Strauss' "Blue Danube" and Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's "Ballade in A Minor." "It was an absolute delight to be back together at the School Park Preserve, our first time since 2019," said Anne Brown, Auburn Symphony executive director. "This concert is our gift to the community and encourages friends new and old to attend and experience the high level of musicianship this gem of a community orchestra brings to Auburn and Placer County."
